Create data sharing standards together

Systems need to use a common data model to communicate smoothly. Our vocabulary hub Semantic Treehouse helps you and your community to agree on, define and improve these models.

Publish your standard

  • Semantic Treehouse provides a single source of truth for you and your community in a user friendly online environment.
  • Access Semantic Treehouse and your data models anywhere using your browser.
  • Import an existing data model or start fresh using the wizard.
  • Improve readability of your data model with the tree view.
  • Include your own or external code lists and keep them up-to-date.
  • Add code snippets and example files for better understanding of the use cases.

Involve your standardization community

Semantic Treehouse enables you to actively involve the user community to develop, maintain and adopt your data models. Stimulate the adoption of your standard with active community management.
  • Invite all stakeholders to collaborate on your data models in a controlled manner.
  • Evolve your standard together via change requests, usage notes and meeting minutes and decisions.
  • Relate all artifacts to current and past versions of your data models to provide a shared knowledge base.
  • Style Semantic Treehouse according to your corporate identity for a recognizable user experience.

Validate against the standard

Semantic Treehouse offers the user community the possibility to check implementations against your data models.
  • Check compliancy of implementations against the standard.
  • Supports checking of XML, JSON, CSV and RDF formats.
  • Formulate and validate custom business rules on top of schemas and syntax.
  • Help in making implementations compliant by offering detailed validation reports. Integrate with existing automated validation solutions via the API.

Our vision is open

The Semantic Treehouse team believes in open standards and open standardization processes.
  • We bring together standardization organizations with the same mission, aiming at tackling data sharing and modelling challenges together and developing solutions collaboratively.
  • The future of Semantic Treehouse is driven by your needs. Soon you will be able to participate even more directly as we are preparing to go open source.
  • TNO’s research into ontologies and semantic data models is put into practice in current and coming features for Semantic Treehouse in order to improve data sharing solutions for years to come.

Our roots

For over a decade, TNO has developed and maintained semantic data models for a large variety of industries. While using many different tools, communication channels and knowledge sources, the idea arose that these should be unified.

Standardization activities include governance, modeling, maintenance, community management, offering helpdesk and implementation support. Our hands-on experience and best practices are the roots of the Semantic Treehouse.

The integrated functionalities for publication, community management and validation provide a strong foundation to facilitate every organization that struggles with the complex task of developing and maintaining data models.

In the jungle of data sharing initiatives and solutions, Semantic Treehouse supports the transition from hierarchical message models towards ontologies, based on Linked Data principles and the Semantic Web. For TNO this area of expertise is of strategic value. We continue to invest in Semantic Treehouse and keep improving based on new innovations.
